Mountwood Park isn’t just for two-legged adventurers –
bring your horse and enjoy the Mountwood Park Horse Camp. Pack your
tent and bring the family. With 30 miles of horseback riding trails,
showers, horse stalls, and a beautiful location, you'll want to come
back for more.
Months of Operation: Open from April 1 thru October 31 for horseback riding and then open during hunting season for hunters only.
Camping: Camping is on a
first come, first serve basis except for Memorial Day weekend and
Volcano Days weekend (Last weekend in September. Reservations can be
made for these two weekends by calling 304-679-3610. Payment for first
come, first serve can be made at the self check in station at the horse

Prices: Electric- $12/night, Primitive- $10/night, Horse Stall- $5/night and Riding fee (if not camping)- $3/night.
Amenities: Three pole barns
offer a total of 26 covered 8 x 10 ft. box stalls, easy access to city
water for bathing and watering horses, nice restrooms and showers,18
electric sites on blacktop, ample tie-lines, wooded areas and grassy
slopes. Porta corrals are welcome. Three pavilions with picnic tables
are also available.
Rules: No horse riding on bicycle trails; only
ride designated trails and county roads. No horse riding in Mountwood
Park (all riding is on property leased by the park). Pack out what you
pack in. Manure must be spread by all users away from the grazing areas
& not in mounds, MUST BE SCATTERED. Set campfires in burn rings
only. Extinguish camp fires before leaving.
