Lake Area

Attractions include pedal boats, rowboats, kayaks and canoes all available at reasonable rates.

The WV Department of Natural Resources stocks the lake regularly with enough variety of fish to challenge the most discerning fisherman, a fishing permit from WV Department of Natural Resources is required. A convenient pier, for those who choose not to fish from boats or shore, provides special accommodations for the elderly and the disabled.

A concession area, which is open during the summer months (late May to the 1st of September, weather permitting) round out the lake area facilities.

Boat Rental:

All Boats $8.00/hr $30.00/Day
Note:  Only trolling motors and NO SWIMMING permitted
Disc Golf course is free - disks are $10 and available at the administration building.

Picnic Areas and Shelters

Over three hundred picnic tables are situated throughout the park for picnicking pleasure. Nearby are grills, refuse containers, grassy play areas, and clean, comfortable rest rooms. Seven large paved shelters are available by reservation for any group activities.

Are you interested in honoring a loved one or friend for generations to come?  Our "Adopt a Picnic Table" is the program for you!  For only a one time fee of $100 you can have a name plate placed on a picnic table!  Perhaps you hold your family reunions here and want your "own" table?  Or your organization holds events here annually? Or you just want your family name or a lost loved one to be commemorated at Mountwood Park; whatever the reason we encourage you to download our application, fill it out and send it in along with your check or money order, or you may pay by credit card.  If you have any questions about our adoption program please call our office and ask for Tammi Collins. Campground Area

For the outdoor camper, seven primitive campsites with a central comfort station are provided. Firewood is available upon request.

Eighty-one paved, well-kept campsites are available with water, electricity, optional sewage facilities, central dumping station, with central rest rooms and showers.

Games Area

Shuffleboard, horseshoe, volleyball, and a paved basketball court are maintained for your pleasure. A fenced-in softball field, with picnic facilities and rest rooms conveniently located nearby, is easily accessible to softball enthusiasts.


Mountain Bike Hiking Trails

There are over 25 miles of environmentally correct trails that will challenge the most avid cyclist. The trails have various degrees of difficulty, ranging from "easier" to most "difficult."

A variety of hiking trails are available at no cost to challenge the beginning and the advanced hiker. The lengths of the trails range from one to five miles in length.
