Chris Swarr- President

Chris Swarr is a secondary language arts instructor for the Washington County Career Center, and over the last ten years has worked to design, develop, maintain, map, and document hiking and biking trails across the Mid-Ohio Valley.

“Greenspace for fitness, recreation, education, and reflection is necessary for the vitality of any community. Mountwood Park offers its visitors this in abundance, and its preservation and wise use are important for the present and future citizens of Wood County.”

Peggy Squires- Vice President 

Peggy Squires retired from GE Plastics and Sabic, was Personnel Manager at K-Mart, and is the current President of The Friends of Mountwood Park. She is an active volunteer with several other organizations.

“I love working with the Friends, Park Staff and Park Board as a volunteer,to improve the park and help make it a beautiful and fun place for all to enjoy.”

Bob Buchanan, Treasurer

Bob is a semi-retired accountant and financial consultant. He is owner of a Wood County Family Farm and father of three grown boys and one grandson. His wife works with USDA-NRCS.  They are an active out door family.

“I am delighted to serve the citizens of Wood County on the board of Mountwood Park. My desire for the park is to see it grow as the premier outdoor family adventure location in the county and surrounding area. We have a wonderful director with a vision that parallels the members of the board and the cooperation of a dedicated Wood County Commission.”

Andrew Borkowski, Secretary

Andrew has a B.S. in Business Administration with a concentration in golf management from Methodist University.  He has managed golf course staff and marketing for a variety of gold clubs ,  has taught professionally, and organized corporate/charity golf tournaments.  In 2008 he moved back to the Mid-Ohio Valley to work for G&W Industrial Sales. Andrew enjoys WVU sports, playing golf and outdoor activities.

“With 2600 acres of mixed use land there truly is something for everyone at Mountwood Park.  I’m committed to making Mountwood a place all citizens of Wood Co. can be proud of and enjoy utilizing.”

Jean Ambrose

Jean retired from Volunteer West Virginia, the state volunteer agency, in  2007 and works to promote community dialogue with the WV Center for Civic Life.

"I love to look for and identify birds. The variety of habitats that Mountwood Park offers attract birds passing through our area that you don't often see in Wood county."

Gary Thompson

Gary Thompson grew up in Parkersburg, spent 30 years on the west coast in Seattle and San Francisco and now teaches in the Energy Programs at West Virginia University at Parkersburg.  He spends as> much time as possible in the great outdoors.
 "I feel that qualityrecreational opportunities and education are two of the keys foreconomic investment and development in the Mid Ohio Valley.  Hiking,mountain biking,camping, fishing ... the list goes on.  Mountwood Parkprovides a remarkable range of opportunities in one setting, and I'm proud to be a part of that!"
Bill Summers
