Mountwood Park Board member


Bob Buchanan, Chair

Bob is a semi-retired accountant and financial consultant. He is owner of a Wood County Family Farm and father of three grown boys and one grandson. His wife works with USDA-NRCS.  They are an active out door family.

“I am delighted to serve the citizens of Wood County on the board of Mountwood Park. My desire for the park is to see it grow as the premier outdoor family adventure location in the county and surrounding area. We have a wonderful director with a vision that parallels the members of the board and the cooperation of a dedicated Wood County Commission.”



Jean Ambrose

Jean retired from Volunteer West Virginia, the state volunteer agency, in  2007 and works to promote community dialogue with the WV Center for Civic Life.

"I love to look for and identify birds. The variety of habitats that Mountwood Park offers attract birds passing through our area that you don't often see in Wood county."


Blair Couch, Wood County Commissioner


Andrew Borkowski, 

Andrew has a B.S. in Business Administration with a concentration in golf management from Methodist University.  He has managed golf course staff and marketing for a variety of gold clubs ,  has taught professionally, and organized corporate/charity golf tournaments.  In 2008 he moved back to the Mid-Ohio Valley to work for G&W Industrial Sales. Andrew enjoys WVU sports, playing golf and outdoor activities.

“With 2600 acres of mixed use land there truly is something for everyone at Mountwood Park.  I’m committed to making Mountwood a place all citizens of Wood Co. can be proud of and enjoy utilizing.”


Gary Thompson

Gary Thompson grew up in Parkersburg, spent 30 years on the west coast in Seattle and San Francisco and now teaches in the Energy Programs at West Virginia University at Parkersburg.  He spends as> much time as possible in the great outdoors.
 "I feel that qualityrecreational opportunities and education are two of the keys foreconomic investment and development in the Mid Ohio Valley.  Hiking,mountain biking,camping, fishing ... the list goes on.  Mountwood Parkprovides a remarkable range of opportunities in one setting, and I'm proud to be a part of that!"

Jim Keith

Jim Keith is a 1965 graduate of Parkersburg High School, a former U.S. Marine and is retired from Eramet.  He serves as liaison between the Wood County Horse Riding Club and the Mountwood Park Board of Directors.

"I personally enjoy the wonderful horseback trails at Mountwood and am committed to working with the various committees of the Board of Directors to expand and further promote these trails as well as exploring other opportunities for the community to visit and enjoy our park."


Peggy Squires, Secretary

Peggy Squires retired from GE Plastics and Sabic, was Personnel Manager at K-Mart, and is the current President of The Friends of Mountwood Park. She is an active volunteer with several other organizations.

“I love working with the Friends, Park Staff and Park Board as a volunteer,to improve the park and help make it a beautiful and fun place for all to enjoy.”



Chris Swarr, Treasurer

Chris Swarr is a secondary language arts instructor for the Washington County Career Center, and over the last ten years has worked to design, develop, maintain, map, and document hiking and biking trails across the Mid-Ohio Valley.

“Greenspace for fitness, recreation, education, and reflection is necessary for the vitality of any community. Mountwood Park offers its visitors this in abundance, and its preservation and wise use are important for the present and future citizens of Wood County.”


Amy File

Amy File is the Healthy Schools Program Manager with Alliance for a Healthier Generation; she is responsible for the overall management and implementation of the Healthy Schools Program for the entire state of West Virginia.  She has spent the last nine years working with W.Va. schools to create sustainable policy and systems-level changes across school campuses where healthy eating and physical activity become the norm and the easy choice for students and staff.  She is a YMCA certified group exercise instructor.  In her spare time she enjoys trail running, road running, kayaking, skiing, and golf.  Amy completed her first marathon in November 2011 as a part of Team Alliance in the New York City Marathon.  Amy believes in living well and empowering others to lead healthy lifestyles.


Tim Graham

Owner Operator of Tim Graham Excavating LLC.  Tim played a major role in making  Mountwood ATV Adventure, ATV Trails become a reality.  Tim has donated countless hours constructing this trail system making it an important recreational opportunity at Mountwood Park.
